So 2016 is officially half over! Where has the time flown this year? I must apologize for not blogging since February! It has been such an amazing year so far and my blog shows nothing! I have been posting most of my adventures and experiences on Facebook, but recently 3 students said they don’t facebook and would I PLEASE consider blogging! So tonight, Aug. 1, I am passing a half year resolution to blog more, starting today!
So, what are some of the amazing things that have happened since my last blog?
Well, in March I helped host Frederic and Magali of Cavalia fame! That was amazing as Frederic helped me with 3 horse liberty work in a private lesson at my farm! And I got the chance to ride Calypso with Magali during the clinic at Stableview. Frederic showed me a new intensity to ground work and Magali inspired me to reconsider dressage training as development for my young horse.
In April the AHA Drill Team Performed Bitless and Bridle-less with a live orchestra and 300 people watching! I am so proud of those who joined me in my crazy idea of this drill team!! There were 10 of us to begin with but by the time the performance date rolled around, there were only 6 that could participate! We had a great time and the crowd loved us! Thanks to all who participated and those who helped out on the ground. It takes a village to put on a performance!
In May, another hair-brained idea popped into my head to help my youngest horse who was having trouble finding confidence while being ridden by himself. I thought preparing to take him to a dressage show would help with that. Then during practice I decided why not do it bridle-less, so we did! Pam at Aiken Horse asked if I would share why I would do such a thing, so I did. Here’s a link to the article! click here
In addition to teaching and training at Aiken Horsemanship Academy, I have continued to work with Saratoga War Horse and with Women Beyond Cancer. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be able to share the love and magic of the horse with people in need. Horses have an amazing healing power and I feel so blessed to help facilitate the interactions!
Alignment and Harmony are still my focus words. It seems if I remain open minded and withhold judging people, things are flowing into alignment with harmony. Gratitude is still a very important part of my mental game. As is believing in “Enough”. By this I mean I frequently tell myself things like, “I am enough”, “I have enough”, “There is more than enough for everyone” and I have been astounded how it shifts things including how I feel.
So here’s to my valiant effort to return to blogging! May the words continue to flow!
