It’s a new year and at AHA that means it’s time for new focus words for the New Year! My words for last year were Balance and Fun. I feel I made pretty good progress on both of these. I tried hard to balance things in all areas of my life and have made okay progress. As for fun, I did add more fun, but more so, I worked to enjoy and put fun in all that I did. I found the fun where I was as opposed to going to look for it! And it has been a great benefit!
For 2013, my focus words are FOCUS and JOY. For me, FOCUS means Follow One Course Until Successful. I have always been curious and so many things seem to capture my attention. I believe I suffer from SOS-shinny object syndrome where the latest, greatest, and shiniest thing pulls my attention all over the map! I love to learn and see and do and I am so fascinated by so many things that it is very hard to focus! But I have decided, for 2013, that I will work to overcome this and really FOCUS.
With horses, FOCUS is key to being a good leader. Riding with FOCUS makes every ride go better. Since I often teach from the saddle, it is easy to loose focus on what I am working on with my own horses. So for this year, I will make time to be sure I am advancing my relationship with each of them!
And JOY, who doesn’t need a little more JOY. To follow up with last year’s word FUN, I choose JOY to continue on that theme. Life is too short not to enjoy, share joy, and laugh a whole lot more! And bringing JOY to my horses, well that will just make everything with them all that much better!!
What are your words for the coming year?? Go ahead, pick one or two! Write them on each month of your calendar and you will be surprised at the result!
