Focus Words 2014

picWow!!  It’s 2014, and we are almost through the first month!  I am guessing this year is going to fly by if the first month is any indication of the year!

If you have know us at Aiken Horsemanship Academy, then you know that once a year we each pick a word (or two) that is our focus word for the year.  This is usually for our personal horsemanship goals as well as life in general.  My words for last year were Focus and Joy.

Well for 2014, I have to admit I have been struggling!  They say it’s the Year of the Horse, which of course means it will be a year of greatness, but I am not yet feeling my word.

My first thought was to have only one word, but that seems difficult.  Some words in the pot of consideration include: Perseverance, Love, Funny/Laughter, Service, Endurance, and Enthusiasm.  I have heard it said that if you want to get a completely different result, you need to do things a different way.  So, for 2014, I am going to be with these words and wait until Feb. to pick my word or words.

So, what’s your Focus Word or words for 2014?  Did you have a word for 2013?  How did that enhance your life?  I would love to hear from you!

Happy New Year!  May all your dreams come true!

I did it! Ozzie and I published!

I did it!  I finally published the story of Ozzie, the horse that changed everything for me!  Ozzie was with me for more than 25 years and is the reason I study horsemanship!  Many of you have met Ozzie, who passed away a year ago.  But few of you know about our early days together.  Ozzie was a challenging horse with a big personality, and I was madly in love with him, even though he was not suitable for me at all.  He would push me and cause chaos wherever he went in his early days.  Thanks to him, I sought out help from a friend who lead me to the path of horsemanship!  And I have never looked back!
