So it’s Monday and time for an update on my boy Moonshine (or Kelley O’Neill Kohr and Doug Kohr”s Moonshine, lol). We have made our list of all the requirements for the competition and working through all the elements needed and jumping is one of them. I have held out on this as Moonshine is small for his age and I have not wanted to stress his joints, but the clock is ticking so it’s time. I like to teach jumping at liberty after good communication is established in the round pen. So here ya go..It’s raw video, but shows our process. I call it “hunt up the jump”. I don’t make him jump it, just give him two options and let his brain work. Option one-go over the jump (I did start this with just a ground pole). Option two- if ya pass the jump, then let’s work on an upward transition. He got to thinking and choose correctly, then we rested. Click below to see the video:
