On Wednesday after working with Nuri on the ground and from the back of my horse, Borrego, I mounted Nuri with no trouble, but he quickly put his tongue over the bit and got very chewy. We have to assume that this means either that he is not understanding the bit pressure or that he is not feeling calm. Either way, it means that I should not be on his back at the moment! I dismounted and Julie and I formed a new game plan: she will work him on Thursday with taking the bit and accepting the bit in his mouth without any pressure, and I will work him again on Friday.
