The focus of today’s lesson was contact. This has always been an area I struggle in but I feel I made some great progress today. Michael did a very interesting interactive exercise with me where he had me hold a lunge line and he offered different feels of contact, not much unlike my rope awareness exercises I have done with many of my students. It was very enlightening when you get a chance to feel what the horse feels. How you maintain that contact as the horse gives without loosing the contact is what is challenging for me. How to give but not let go. How to hold but stay in rhythm. How to use your body as a whole but to be able to isolate the leg to ask in rhythm or your shoulder elbow to supple.
Another great day in the saddle learning from sweet LaWool! What a gem!
